The Summer I Turned Pretty- Now Streaming on Prime Video

Introduction

Jenny Han writes some of the best YA romances and The Summer I Turned Pretty is no exception to that rule. You may also know her from her other book series turned into movies on Netflix, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. The Summer I Turned Pretty is a story about Belly and the summers that she spends in Cousin’s Beach with her mother’s best friend, her brother, and the boys, Jeremiah and Conrad. Whether you read the books or enjoy the series on Prime, it’s very important you know if you are team Jeremiah or Team Conrad. Personally, I am team Belly enjoying growing up with her best friend Taylor and learning about life.

About the Book

The Summer I Turned Pretty is the first book in the series by Jenny Han. This book follows Belly, the main character and her summer family. The book follows YA romantic tropes and deals with love, loss, found family. The series is a giddy and adorable read that I highly recommend to anyone who reads YA Romances.

Summary (Spoiler Free)

Belly is arriving at Cousin’s Beach to spend the summer with her mother, brother, mom’s best friend and her sons. Her best friend Taylor comes along for a bit. They all enjoy summer adventures while Belly tries to figure out exactly where her heart belongs when it is outside of the water. Then she meets Cam Cameron and convinces herself that this romance away from the boys of summer is better for her mind and her heart. Is she right? Is she destined to marry one of Suzanna’s boys like she has always been told. It is a lot to figure out for 14 year old Belly.

What I loved?

I love reading this series, this is the second time that I have read it. It is one of those series that is so perfectly light yet heartfelt at all the right times. It reminds me a lot of my own found family in my summers as a kid growing up.

Who Should Read This Book?
